Kaltenberghütte 2.089 m

Where hikers are rewarded with fantastic views and good cuisine!

We say goodbye to the mountain summer of 2024

The Kaltenberghütte will be closed from Monday, September 16, 2024. There is now about a meter of snow on the hut, which is why we have decided to close the hut already.

We will be there for you again from the end of June 2025 and look forward to your visit!

Look forward to an untouched gem right at the junction between Arlberg, Klostertal and Verwall.

The Kaltenberghütte is located on an incomparably beautiful sun deck. Thanks to its exposed location, it offers unforgettable views of the surrounding mountains.

The popular mountain breakfast at the Kaltenberghütte will be back in 2024.

equipment

  • The hut is equipped with one of the most beautiful mountain panorama views in this region, with authentic and hearty food and of course the friendliest hut team far and wide 😉
  • The Kaltenberghütte is one of a total of seven base huts on the Verwall Circuit.
  • Also recommended for day visitors, as it is easily accessible in about 2 hours (only about 300 meters in altitude) from St. Christoph - a mountain breakfast or lunch is always worthwhile.
  • Our hut is located at 2,089 m high above the Klostertal, on the western ramp of the Arlber Pass road. The airy, open balcony offers beautiful views of the Klostertal and the opposite peaks of the Lechquellen Mountains.
  • About 5 minutes behind the hut, on a small plateau, there is a beautiful, clear mountain lake that is perfect for swimming in warm weather.
  • Particularly beautiful and unforgettable moments are the sunsets that can be enjoyed from the large hut terrace.
  • From the hut there are numerous hikes of varying difficulty levels, the highlight of which is the Kaltenberg with its glacier.
  • We are delighted to have been awarded the Alpine Club's "Environmental Seal of Quality" since 2019. This is evidence of an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient hut operation. A great deal of responsibility and effort for a business in this location, which the hut team is happy to support.

culinary delights from the region

This is what the mountains taste like!

Only the best food and drinks are served at the Kaltenberghütte. Most of the ingredients are regional or from organic farming. The rule is: as local and regional as possible and prepared with love. Try our goulash with homemade spaetzle or the mountain cheese from the neighboring Nenzigast Alpe... with fresh bread!
Afterwards, a Kaiserschmarrn with plum compote?
